Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Sabine River Authority Board Of Directors

Governor Abbott has appointed Kimberly Fish and Col. Jeanette Sterner (Ret.) and reappointed Cary M. “Mac” Abney for terms set to expire on July 6, 2021 to the Sabine River Authority Board of Directors. The purpose of the Sabine River Authority is to conserve, store, control, preserve, utilize and distribute the storm and flood waters and the waters of the Sabine River and its tributaries.

Kimberly Fish of Longview is a freelance writer as well as a creative consultant in the community development field. She currently serves on the board of Longview 2020, Community Connections Center, Longview Arboretum, LeTourneau University President’s Advisory Committee and LeTourneau University Board of Trustees. She is also an active member of Longview-Greggton Rotary and Zonta International. Fish received her Bachelor of Science from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.

Colonel Jeanette Sterner of Holly Lake Ranch was honorably discharged from the United States Army and Texas Army National Guard after 30 years of service to her country. While serving in the Texas Army National Guard, she worked for the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Dallas as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and clinical coordinator for the Veterans Homeless Program. She is an active member of the Military Officers Association of America, VFW Mineola and the Women’s Service Guild Holly Lake Ranch. Additionally, she is vice president of Greater Hawkins Veterans Memorial Association and president of Holly Lake Ranch Veterans Association and the Women’s Auxiliary to Greater Hawkins Memorial Association. Col. Sterner received a Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma City University, Masters of Science from Trinity University and a master’s degree in strategic planning for Global Situations from the Army War College, her thesis was on Homeland Defense: The Texas Option.

Mac Abney of Marshall is a Certified Public Accountant and president of Abney & Co., and is also is an instructor at the Kilgore College of Small Business Development Center. He is an active member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, East Texas Chapter of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Forestry Association and Texas Association of Sports Officials. He serves as secretary/treasurer of Harrison County EMS District #2, and is a board member of Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District USDA, Marshall Harrison County Joint Airport Zoning Authority and the TSTC Foundation. Abney received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
