Governor Abbott Appoints Cerna To Finance Commission of Texas

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Hector Cerna of Eagle Pass to the Finance Commission of Texas for a term to expire on February 1, 2020. The finance commission is the governing body of the banking, savings and loan, and consumer credit agencies.

Hector J. Cerna is President and CEO of IBC Bank in the Eagle Pass region. He has worked in the Texas banking industry for over 25 years. Cerna currently serves as a board member of the Border Trade Alliance, first vice president of the Maverick County Development Corporation, member of the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce and member of the Texas Bankers Association. He is also involved in his community as chairman of the Diocese of Laredo Finance Council and board member of OMNIA Casa del Nino. Cerna has previously been a member of the Texas Border Infrastructure Coalition, member of the Texas Young Bankers Association, president of the Rotary International of Eagle Pass, fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of America and council member of Our Lady of Refuge School Council. He was recognized as a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and received the 2012 Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award. Cerna graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
