Oct 1, 2016 - Texas Film Round-Up in Beaumont, Oct. 21 - 23


The Texas Archive of the Moving Image's (TAMI) Texas Film Round-Up provides free digitization for Texas-related films and videos in exchange for the donation of a digital copy of the materials to www.texasarchive.org. Since 2008, the program has provided new access to more than 12,000 films and videos and served hundreds of individuals and institutions. The program is open to home movies, advertisements, local television and community films. To qualify, films or videos must be Texas-related (filmed in Texas, by a Texan or be about Texas). In addition, the owner must be or represent the copyright holder.

The Texas Film Round-Up will be held October 21-23 at the Mary and John Gray Library on the Lamar University campus. TAMI staff will be on-site to collect films and videotapes from the public for FREE digitization, and an exhibition on film history and preservation will be on display for public viewing as well as a reel of Beaumont area footage. TAMI encourages citizens of Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange, and all of the cities in between to bring their family collections to the library on Friday from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am – 7:00 pm, and Sunday from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Founded in 2002, TAMI is a non-profit organization that works to "discover, preserve, provide access to, and educate the community about Texas' film heritage." The Texas Film Round-Up travels to communities and provides free ditigization for Texas-related films and videos in exchange for the donation of a digital copy of the materials to the archive.
